Welcome to Marcus' Personal Page!
As many of you know, my mom was infected with HIV after receiving a faulty blood transfusion which she needed after being struck by a drunk driver. She fought hard for many years but sadly she lost her battle at age 41 with so much life left to live. I was 17 at the time and a senior in high school and my brother was 18.
Needless to say, that experience changed our family forever. If anything good came from it, it's that it brought my dad, my grandparents and my brother and I closer together as we figured out how to move on.
Join me and let's walk with aloha and be a part of the solution by increasing awareness. Treatment and prevention has advanced light-years since her passing in 2004 and it's because of research fueled by the generosity of ordinary people like you and me. There is still so much work to do and we need your help. Since the first walk 27 years ago, Hawaii's Life Foundation has raised over 2.5 million dollars through the AIDS Walk.
This event is so much more than just a fundraiser. It's an opportunity for the community to come together to remember those we have lost to HIV/AIDS, and celebrate the achievements we have made in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
