HONOLULU AIDS WALK RESULTS IN RECORD-BREAKING YEAR

The largest AIDS Walk team in Life Foundation history also raises the most funds. 

HONOLULU — May 6, 2017: The grand tally is in and the 26th Annual Honolulu AIDS Walk 2017 results have been confirmed today. A total of $145,497 was raised thanks to 907 walkers on a total of 65 teams. The walk held on April 15, at Kapiolani Park, represented a wide range of leading businesses, organizations and local groups to  result in a historic year. 

The largest team in Honolulu AIDS Walk history, Wang Chung’s, successfully registered 231 walkers (by partnering with Yelp Hawaii) and raised $19,443, a record for a direct team donation. 

MAC Cosmetics continues its mission to serve all people affected by HIV/AIDS by raising $17,706, thanks to a matching donation verified by MAC Corporate today; an official check presentation will be made at Life Foundation in the Fall 2017. 

Rounding out the top three, Marriott Hotels of Waikiki raised $15,501 and included many walkers from the hospitality industry and hotels Moana Surfrider and Sheraton. 

In addition, the NAACP of Honolulu walked for the first time as a team this year. Other notable teams included Hawaiian Airlines, Delta Airlines, Hard Rock Cafe, Hula’s Bar and Lei Stand, Walgreen’s, former Peace Corps volunteers, Lutheran Church of Honolulu, and the UH School of Medicine, to name a few. 

Life Foundation is the state’s first AIDS organization (founded in 1983) and currently serves more than 700 people on Oahu diagnosed and living with HIV. We also provide medical, financial and emotional support, in addition to free and confidential testing.
